The Spotted Eagle Owls – the female owl moved into the owl box on the roof of the Centre on 18 June. She didn’t lay eggs immediately – on 22 June the 1st egg was laid and the first hatchling should happen on about 23 July.
Initially we won’t be able to see any movement in the box, but about 2 – 3 weeks later, we should start seeing chick activity in the box and about a week later, they should be seen moving around on the roof.
At the moment, the male owl is already swooping down and chasing away dogs (and their owners) who get to close to the vicinity of the box. A major portion of the park has been burnt, which may lead to food shortages for the owls
