Training

Delta Environmental Centre has been involved in Environmental Education and Skills Development programmes for more than 40 years and has always assured its work aligns with both National and International Policy on Environmental Health and well-being, Environmental Training and Education Standards as well as Education for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals.

DEC places emphasis on youth training and development, to prepare youth to contribute environmental and sustainability knowledge, skills and values to the broader economy and become active participants in the emerging green economy and environmental and education sectors. We aim to create youth who are environmentally and socially responsible and who have the means and motivation to support themselves, their families and communities with dignity.

Delta Environmental Centre has been accredited with the Education, Training and Development Practices (ETDP) SETA since 2007, offering Skills Programmes, Part and Full qualifications to over 3000 learners in all provinces of South Africa. DEC’s environmental training programmes are designed to create community leaders and ‘initiative-takers’ who have a vision for their local environments. They integrate environmental research and analysis with practical action projects, the development of awareness campaigns and environmental learning programmes. Those who go on to complete the full qualification gain valuable training skills such as evaluation, facilitation, and assessment, thereby exiting as well-rounded environmental trainers.
